Can you delete old inactive taskbar items on your toolbar desktop? (next to time, volume e.t.c.)?
most of this icons correspond to a specific program in your computer. if you no longer uses that program just delete them using add/remove programs in the control panel. if you still wish to use that program some time soon, you can right click on the taskbar and choose properties. customize the "hide inactive icons" section and select always hide on the program icon's behavior.

- Always hide
