I want to save more space on my computer.
What files are safe to delete on my c:\ drive?
First of all you have to be able to view hidden files in your system. I assume you are using WinXP. To view hidden files, open one Windows Explorer, on the menu, choose Tools, then Folders Options, then View. Choose "Show hidden files and folders" in the radio button.
Go back to your question, you can manually delete all files with "tmp" extension. They are just temporary files used by certain applications thus are safe to delete.
To get back more spaces, i would suggest you use a very good housekeeping application called CCleaner. You can get it here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_cclean...
Reply:The contents of:
C:\Windows\Temp\
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\
Are usually safe to delete. You can also open the options in your web browser and delete the cache and history as this will clear up a lot of space.
Don't delete anything else unless you know exactly what it is and that it is safe to delete it. Deleting random files can cause your computer to completely stop working requiring a long and possibly painful re-installation of Windows.
