Accidentally deleted C:\Windows\System directory in my Win98 SE. Help me, pleasee..... HELP!!!?

At first, I was in MS-DOS mode without entering my operating system (Windows 98 SE). From there, I deleted the TEMP folder in my Windows folder in (C:) drive by entering the command, "deltree Windows\TEMP" and it successfully deleted all the subdirectories in the folder. But when I entered the command "deltree Windows\Tempor~1", it asked me whether to delete the directory C:\Windows\System. Without reading it, I accidentally entered Yes and it deleted the System directory in my Windows folder. Now, when I tried to start Windows 98, it reported that some required system files are required to start Windows 98. So, I can't boot into my Windows 98 any more. Is there any .cab files in Windows 98 CD-ROM that contains all the files in the C:\Windows\System directory? There are so many .cab files in the CD and I'm not sure which .cab files contains all the system files. Please help me, please.... Please teach me how to extract all the Win98 system files to its original directory. Helppp......

Its quiet hard to copy system files in your windows directory as it was compressed by the windows.

Please reinstall the windows98 using your cd. Restart your pc, place your bootable OS (win98) and it will automatically boot up.

Run a repair option, or you can start a new installation, anyway it wont erase your files in C, as long as you didnt choose "format it"
Reply:LOL, i think i did that same exact thing once. If my memory serves me. Its a bad one. Considering everyone's C:\Windows\System directory is a rather unique heart of Windows itself.

If you have a recent backup of your system, i would resort to that and patch the folder in DOS before attempting to start Windows again.

Reply:You should not have !!!

Try restorning windows in the command prompt. If it doesn't work try installing the OS on the same partition. This will overwrite the system files. But your software installation will be intact. But try tthis only with Win 98 SE. If you try this with any other OS the potential harm will be too much.
