Can I delete all the *txt files that are under C:\WINDOWS?

Under the WINDOWS directory there are more than 100 txt files. Most of them are log files. I'm trying to delete some stuff on my comp to have more space available. Is it safe to delete those files? THANKS

Be very cautious what you touch in there or the system and system32 directories. txt files generally are not big enough to worry about, and if you delete log files etc they only regenerate. Try searching for *.tmp and ~* files, some of these can be massive. If you are getting that short of space right click the recycle bin and in properties reduce it's size to a minimum, then empty it. You could also right click you drive and in properties set compression for the whole drive. It carries a very slight performance penalty, but is hardly noticeable. Otherwise you may be looking at time to fit a larger drive, or at least adding a second drive and moving everything in your documents to it. This might require changing links in some software to point to the new location, but it does clear space.
Reply:try doing a disc clean-up and a disk defragment

i think it would be ok to deleate some of them, but you might not want too because i deleated some of those which were imbeded into my hard drive and it totally screwed up my computer, so beware!!
