Does anything in, 'C:\Documents and Settings\*username*\Local Settings\Temp' matter or can I delete it?

C:\Documents and Settings\Matt\Local Settings\Temp

is taking up 3GB of my C: drive, do I need any of it.

Some files date back to when I installed Windows XP, so they have never been tampered with. Whereas somethings were last changed today, just as I logged on. I'm not sure what I can do with the files and I want to because like I say it is taking up 3 GB of my PC.

I have tried deleting Internet files in the internet options if that helps.

What do I do?

Does anything in, 'C:\Documents and Settings\*username*\Local Settings\Temp' matter or can I delete it?
All temp folders can be emptied if you wish it's never harmed my system when i have done mine.
Reply:Actually you can delete them as they are just the waste space of your hard disk. I did it and worked fine. But you’ll realize that some files and folders will not delete as they are in used by other programs in the computer! But you can delete the rest by skipping those folders/files. I can tell you and alternative method as a tip. Try to use disk cleans up for better results after you delete the content in “Temp” folder. The steps are as follows.

1. Right click on the drive C

2. Select Properties -%26gt; General tab -%26gt; Disk cleanup button

3. This will take a while and then allow you to clear lot of unnecessary files other than what in “Temp” folder. This may give you more space

Hope this helps!
Reply:all i can say is try it.
Reply:It should be OK to delete it all.

You can download a free program called CC Cleaner, which clears out temporary files instantly.
Reply:Delete away, it's no problem. Also click on start, then run, type in prefetch and a folder will be displayed, select all the files (ctrl A) and delete everything. These files can also take up a lok of space and slow down the speed at which your computer starts up.
Reply:i think that these are just a record of all the web pages you have looked at and that you can delete them. Its a good way to know what other people have been looking at on your pc.
Reply:You can delete it... Just go to safe mode by pressing F8 when u turn on ur computer... and delete the file if they won't let you.
Reply:You should be OK to delete all fles with .tmp file extension. If in doubt don't delete it though.
