Can't format c: drive for fresh install of windows xp?

i can't format c:/ drive were windows r there....





inprocess installing windows... all partitions drive came .. there i wanna delete c:/ drive partition but it gave an answer tht unable delete partitioon because this drive contains some temporary files which helps to complete windows installation..





nd whn goes for second way i.e command prompt way ..





there i type format c: or format c:/u there i write c:/ volume thn it shows " format cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. format may run if this volume is dismounted firt.ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID. would you like to force a dismount on this volume ? y/n ""





thn i type "y"





thn it shows


"cannot lock the drive. the volume is still in use."








plzz tell me wht shoud i do now ... its very urgent for me .. plzz help me

Reply:Use any good Disk Manager, I would recommend seagate. Search google for it.
Reply:You may be havin some corrupt parts in your HDD.


First download a software like HDD Recovery Pro burn it onto a cd n they boot from it ..


Then clear all errors if you get any ..


And then try installing Xp again ..

Reply:You are trying to install windows XP when you are already logged on which is not possible, hence you are getting the message "volume is in use by another process".


Hence, you would have log off from the operating system and then insert the boot-able disk that has windows xp and wait for the booting process to start.


Once the booting process starts, you should see a message on your top left screen saying..."Press any key to enter......".


Follow the instruction that folllows, once you enter the installation set-up screen.Here you should select the drive (In this case C:\\ drive) to be formatted.Once the format has been done, follow the on-screen instruction to install Windows XP..........
