How do I change/delete who shows up in the "Add recipients" window when I click the To: button?

How do I change/delete who shows up in the "Add recipients" window when I click the To: button, when I am composing an email? The email addresses that show up in the pop-up window are not ones that are saved in my Contacts/Address book, so I am unable to go to my Contacts and delete them b/c they are not there, but they are in the "Add recipients" box to choose from. Thanks!
